How do u change batteries? Beginners

got a breitling rep that went out of batteries. to change it, I'd have to drive some 50 miles, which is not the most comfortable for me. So, I bought a watch kit to change my batteries at home. Now I wonder how easy is the process and if I can handle it myself without a specialist.

how do u guys change batteries for your watches? I thought it would be useful to have a kit so I can change my batteries every time I need, as I have plenty of watches. What are the pitfalls and what should I pay attention to? Do you do it on your own or still prefer a specialist to have it done for you?

thanks fellows

your tool kit will definitely help you. I think it's more reasonable to buy one and learn to change the batteries yourself than to drive 50 miles just to change the batteries. personally, I have never changed because I have a repair shop right in the area where I live. but from what I see on YouTube and in various tutorials, the process is not rocket science

your kit includes everything you need. just unscrew the caseback and remove it carefully with tweezers or any other suitable tool. further, the process is simple. you remove the old batteries and put the new ones and make sure that they are positioned correctly

I found a great lifehack for removing the caseback. instead of tweezers, you could use duct tape. stick it to the caseback after removing the screws, if any, and pull the duct tape that comes off with the caseback. voila- you have reached the inner part of the watch, and all u need is replace batteries... the first procedure is somehow more complex, the following ones become easier and easier to do

also, I recommend removing the batteries from any watch you haven't used for a long time. leaving batteries inside for too long is not a good thing for watches

agree, corrosion and leaked acid are likely if keeping batteries in watches, especially if these don't work anymore.... a've irreversibly broken a watch because of that

I've been changing the batteries for my watches and my wife's and family's watches for a long time, whenever needed. I bought an o-ring kit a few years ago. on Ebay the prices are very ok for such kits. the first time I used the kit, the o-rin has died under the caseback and was left with a damaged seal. only once did it happen...

I recommend being cautious during the process, especially with the finely wired wound coil. I don't know what mechanism your fake breitling has, but if it is one in which the movement is very close to the battery area, you could easily damage it if it slips. a new movement is an option if you damage it, so everything is not so serious. But it could ruin your day so be prudent, if that helps you prevent such outcome

the idea of changing your watch batteries yourself is superb. here is why: u get intimate with your watch, you get to know it better and reveal it's "inner world" 😁😁 sounds romantic i know, but that's the truth...

japanesse and swiss reps have different types of batteries, as far as i know. be careful, because each type might require a different changing approapch. and yes, it is important not to damage the coil. In addition, you might consider re-greasing the caseback gasket together with changing the batteries. Depending on the type of kit you got, you could have some silicone grease included in it. After you remove the caseback, carefully remove the crown or stem out of the movement and apply some silicone or another type of grease on the outside of the stem tube. then put the crown back. it's nothing difficult, tutorials on pinterest say youtube will help you

special kits at the watch repair shops are pretty useful. I don't see the point of having unusual kits. go easy on this and im sure any tool will be helpful

just be careful during the process. the movements and all the internal structure are really fine and delicate, but not even made of sand to break down easily) with attention and patience, you will get things in the end) it's just battery changing, not assembling the whole thing)

with the right tools, there is nothing difficult in changing the batteries on your own. i suppose there isn't any warranty to void so why not? the first time will be more clumsy, then you'll get used to it. changing batteries ain't assembling the watch from scratch. all our grands did this and everything was ok.
Youtube tutorial will help you with this task. otherwise, if you're not sure, go to a professional service. though, be careful because some ADs might add some extra services to battery change for which you have to pay extra, like pressure or water resistance testing. I mean, there's nothing bad with those additional procedures, but what pisses me off is that TDs might do it without client approval and just present the pay check at the end

be careful with rep watches.

some are very fragile inside, and a simple battery change might damage the inner components.

I had an unpleasant experience when I changed the battery and barely touched the side plate, and it broke completely.

no repair mechanic could not fix it. that was 7 years ago. today I think that the casings and mechanisms are much better quality, but be careful anyway

changing batteries is not a difficult process. just remove the caseback, pull out the batteries and place the new ones making sure of the right positioning. the most complex part of the whole process is to buy the necessary tools for it 😂😂

if your breitling rep breaks along the process, than, sorry dude, it means your fake is too fragile... get over it and get a new watxgh 😁
