Shall I Share My Thoughts on the RO? I used to avoid it, if it Matters to You

I guess you are curious about my journey from avoiding them to owning a Royal Oak, if you have reached this thread. The idea is that this thread is about "never say never" which exactly describes my experience with this watch.

Why do we avoid it? Well, I am not one of those who cannot appreciate the expertise and craftsmanship of Audemars Piguet. However, I was always haunted by the thought "it's not for me" watch, if you know what I mean. It wasn't about the price. More about style probably, and more about lack of self-respect because I always thought that RO is for everyone, just not for a humble ordinary mortal like me.

Well, here is my 35 years anniversary in which my wife, together with other family members like bro, mom and dad, approaches the ring with the HB song and the small box with the initials AP on it. I realized that there is an Audeamrs Piguet watch in it. and honestly speaking, I was also disappointed somewhere in myself. like "my wife knows i dont relate... why would she buy me this watch?!" in the end, I was able to hide my frustration instead of a wide and grateful smile, because in the end, everyone made a joint effort to get it.

In the days that followed, I didn't have many options other than to wear the watch as a sign of respect for the family. And here is where the magic begins. I can't describe this watch as "beautiful", although it really looks good - I have to admit. But it's more about the PERFECT balance of proportions than about beauty. It looks masculine not only because of its overall design, but precisely because of the calibration between angles, proportions, shapes. In addition, it exudes a specific masculinity through its dimensions which are immediately calibrated by the gentleness of its refinement. It took me a week to understand that I'm not looking at it to read the time, but to enjoy the aesthetic comfort it offers me....

I have always been loyal to integrated ports watches. however, I never considered an RO. it's probably because the more modern models seem to be more in trend with their somewhat thicker and brutalist cases. But despite its different concept from what is considered trendy today, this RO compensates with many other advantages against modern models. That is why he is timeless, while modern models are ephemeral....

So, after a month of wearing this Genta-inspired timepiece, here I honestly admit that I was wrong in avoiding it. I just can't explain how comfortable I feel with its thin case and lightweight. Many times, I forget that I'm wearing a watch on my hand and I wonder how I could bear the brutal and way too bold watches until now?1

Don't take me along, I'm not the vanilla guy who loves to dramatize and dramatize everything. but the experience with this Royal Oak deserves to be shared because surely there must be watch lovers somewhere besides me who do not think that a new watch suits them.....

If there is someone who has doubts about RO, for some reason, go ahead and TEST IT! I bet you'll like it and forget about other models, at least for a while. As for my wife, all I have to do is to be grateful like 4EVER!!! I don't know if she knew what she was doing or if she took a risk, but she totally nailed it by giving me this RO!

sorry for the long read!!! I wanted you to understand the essence of my emotions as well as possible

I'm reading your thread and I'm thinking: how can you consider yourself a watch enthusiast if you couldn't intuit that an AP RO will sit so well and comfort you so much?))) It seems to me that your wife is a more professional enthusiast than you :DDDD

wonderful piece!!!!! adorable!!!

a RO is never superfluous even despite the trends for thicker watches!!!!!! any other watch loses its value in type... well, except rolex, ptek and Audemars Piguet! i wish my wife would give me such a gift, I couldn't be happier))) lovely timepiece, I don't understand how you didn't resonate with the chair from the first moments)

is that a donkey next to your arm ? :DDDDD

the watch is indeed wonderful.
For me, there are no timepieces more valuable and more steeped in horological essence than Nautilus, Aquanaut, and Royal oak. I hope to have all 3 someday, but with current prices, I think that will be possible in retirement

Congratulations man!! No matter how you came to love this watch, I matured you since you embraced it! Great wife yours!

there is no better watch for me. I'm wearing an ROO and I don't exchange it for anything in the world. I think that if this one goes out of use, I'll definitely get another one from the same series

you have a very wise wife, bro.. she knows what true horology means.... here is my treasure
