Hi there,
I need your advice. Good news - got my dream job finally. bad news- I have to adapt my wardrobe and accessories to fit in the new context. I'm the freestyle guy but the new job environment requires a more elevated style. so, was thinking to get a couple of dress watches in addition to some more solid clothes that I already bought. I'm running out of ideas because I haven't really dealt with dress watches until now, so seek some insights from those who are good at this matter.

Could you recommend anything suitable? here some of the specs to consider:
- a watch with a case up to 12 mm thick
- the case should not be wider than 40 cm as my wrist is modest in size
- the colors revolve around smth neutral like silver, stainless steel, or maybe champagne
- the maximum I want from functions is 3-hand and maybe date, but not more than that. I prefer minimalism to begin with
-quartz would be just fine if it is a replica; for gens-autos will greatly do
- the price is limited to $2k for a gen and about $500 for a rep, for a good one

From the models I managed to analyze, 2 watches seem to match my criteria, but idk, need your validation. it's a Gen Flagship Heritage and a rep OP39. though, not sure that the Rolex is of good quality. if any of you have this model in the rep version, let me know how it looks and works

So grateful for any opinion

I resonate with your idea regarding a Flagship Heritage Longines. Luxury brand, nice model, warranty and stuff, and good price to me. i think once you spotted your attention to this watch and the OP39, the chances are slim that you will buy something else) you just need this thread to convince yourself that there is nothing better than what you are already thinking about 😁 chill, i do the same😂

I'd go for a Carrera- three-hand auto 39 mm Heuer. It's a bit more expensive than your threshold, but I think it's worth the difference because... you know... its a gen heuer. rather than getting a microbrand watch for about 2k, it's better to add a little and get a Heuer... I would do that, for example... the watch corresponds to the criteria you mentioned. silver material, clean dial, not at all functionally busy, gorgeous dial finish, smooth bezel, leather black trap. all u need to nail it at yr new job...just take a look

gorgeous.... aaaaafffff

got smth even more sleek and refined than the heuer. u see, This carrera has a sporty and casual nature despite its formal style. there is something similar but a bot more elegant, in case u need it. it's about the GS Heritage. Metallic ss steel, superb pale dial, date window, and impressively elegant hands.... The previous heuer resonates to me better 'cause it's closer to my style. idk about how formal you need yr watch to be, so here u have a elegant alternative to the Heuer

shortcomings: a little higher priced than your budget limit. but, i'd agree with @Fisher , better add some extra bucks and get a gorgeous watch

Tudor black Bay 39. did you consider it? it's a formal option with a strong casual accent. I hope your new job is not only about 60+ aged employees, and smth casual would also do.. it's a bith b=higher the price you want, but i've seen good reps for this model. you could save some bucks with a fake until you decide if the model is overall right for u. if it is, u get the gen with your first pay-off😂 if u don't- just move to another option

so cute choices around here. also wanted to spot the GS, but I see that someone already mentioned it. I didn't know that Rayond was so affordable, I thought it was a bit more pricey, so also a great option

I was sure that Heuer is all about sporty nature, but this model incorporates formality so well. great option, thanks

thanks to all here, really nice choices

Have you considered anything from Nomos range? prices are decent, quality as well, and very wide formal catalogue
it was among the first I thought of... yet, I find their models a little bit over-modern, watches indeed are formal but stylistically, I don't resonate with them. I'm looking for something with a more classic expression. yet, I admit that the Nomos variety pleasantly surprised me

tbh, I was going to recommend the GS. But I took a quick look at the Longines you mentioned. It won me over right away, and with all my love for GS, I dare to validate your Flagship Heritage option

what about such a Tudor, if you don't resonate with Black Bay? this 1926 fits all your criteria and comes with an added classic charisma. love this guy. so classy, even a bit vintage, yet modern, yet not excessively. look at the bracelet, you're gonna love it

i've met this same model with blue hands. looks so different from what I see here. this one is really classy, the blue-handed is so modern... so, @Cinar73967 here you have another two options to choose from

I can't express how happy I am with the mentioned models, guys. i think im gonna get one of them. the more i explore models, the more i get confused😂 i didn't expect so many reputable brands to be so affordable to my budget. so highly pleased to look for the mentions u recommended

and i guess i'll get over the initial budget for a lil bit, i don't mind as far as i get a really gut watch

considering that you got a prestigious job as I understand it, I don't think that a rep is a good option. sorry for my thoughts, but I think you'll give the wrong impression in a formal environment from the job you recently hired) so, whatever you choose from the above-mentioned options, i'd recommend to opt for gen watches, especially if you can afford it... reps will do ok, if they are of high quality. but you could consider them as an alternative when you already fit into the context of your job and get to know better your team. For a good impression, I recommend not to risk with a rep. From the recommended options, I would go for GS and Carrera, wonderful options

I wouldn't risk going with a replica to a new job, especially since the environment is quite formal from what I understand. a rep watch would do in an environment of people you already know and you know precisely that your rep will not influence the opinion of those around you... as for a formal and new work environment, with colleagues you barely know ... idk... you risk getting the wrong impression about you... you know, the whole replica thing like not gut for the gen brands blah blah...

Id go with the Flagship Heritage for my sake good start. after some time, you can get to wear what you want after you get to know better your mates and the overall environment

congratulations on your new job. + 1 here against reps. it's too early yet. wait until you get to know the people you work with. there re plenty of wealthy people wearing reps, i know them personally, so it shouldn't be an issue wearing a high-quality rep. however, I recommend waiting a bit, there might be those that are totally against reps invoking arguments like "against the law/ brand copyright" blah blah... and u don't need these sort of negative feelings at the beginning of the career your new job

I don't know why everyone recommends against reps. you can find a pretty nice nd greatly-working rep watch for about 500$. that's thr budget, right?

with a bit of luck and a good trusted dealer, you could find a super clone. and what if the office is full of formal nerds? why not mind their own business and don't give a damn for your watch?
after all, u go there as a specialist for work, who cares what watch u wear? rep or genuine? i bet half of them don't afford a gen watch, even if they have miney, they have families, mortgages, etc...

so please, u don't have to feel inferior because of a rep... even rich and weatlhy people wear them)))
